DUMFRIES chef Fraser Cameron has won the inaugural ‘Legacy Scholarship’ at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

The new award was established to honour the first-ever Michelin Guide ceremony in Scotland, recognising an exceptional up-and-coming chef with a deep passion for Scottish produce and a commitment to the nation’s culinary future.

As the scholarship recipient, Cameron, who is the head chef at The Globe Inn, will embark on an exclusive five-day programme at the world-renowned Ritz Hotel in London, where he will be mentored by executive chef John Williams MBE.

Fraser’s win is a testament to his dedication, he has cultivated strong relationships with the finest local producers through his role as head chef.

Honoured to have won, he said: “It is an absolute honour to have won this scholarship.

“Opportunities like this are incredibly rare, and to have won this inaugural award fills me with so much pride. The chance to learn and grow in a business that is not only a leader in food but in sustainability, passion, refinement, and elegance, is crucial for my personal development.

“This scholarship opens up the opportunity to share what I learn with my team and the next generation of young talent, all while being an ambassador for Scotland Food and Drink. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime, money-can’t-buy opportunity.”
