TWO Galloway reverends were appointed as canons during a service in Glasgow last Sunday.

The service at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral was officiated by the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway (UDGG) Bishop, the Right Reverend Nicholas Bundock.

Reverend Dawn Matthew, formerly priest-in-charge of All Saints’ Challoch and St Margaret’s New Galloway, was officially installed as canon missioner for the UDGG.

Meanwhile, the Reverend Dr Elizabeth Breakey, priest-in-charge of St John’s Stranraer and St Ninian’s Portpatrick, was further installed as canon during the service.

Among those in attendance were congregation members who travelled up from Wigtownshire to show their support.

Reverend Dawn bid farewell to her congregation earlier this month, with a special lunch following her leaving service, attended by 30 members of the congregation where she was presented with gifts. She thanked everyone, saying she was looking forward to seeing everyone again in her new role as Diocesan Canon Missioner.
