Retail crime crackdown

POLICE officers have been out and about at the retail parks in Dumfries to hear about current retail crime trends. And during their visit the community cops came across a man who was wanted for a number of thefts of electrical goods from supermarkets in town. He was traced and arrested in relation to these incidents and a number of road traffic offences. A force spokesperson said: "Our officers work closely with retailers to offer them reassurance against thefts, threats and abuse. "Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and we will continue our patrols to deter and detect those involved."
