Region to get walk in GP clinic
A NEW walk-in GP clinic is coming to Stranraer in April. The town is one of 16 locations across Scotland announced on Tuesday by the First Minister. Patients will be able to see a GP or nurse quickly without the need for an appointment, focusing on urgent, on-the-day primary care needs. They will be open 12 pm–8 pm, seven days a week, helping patients get the care they need while also easing pressure on GP practices and hospital A and E departments. Reacting to the announcement, South of Scotland MSP Emma Harper said: “The opening of a new walk-in GP clinic in Stranraer will be a total game changer for people across Galloway - I've campaigned for one to come here and I know what a difference this will make to people right across our communities. “The new clinic will ensure that people can see a GP quicker, without an appointment, and help ease pressures on GP practices and A and E departments."
