PUPILS from Troqueer Primary in Dumfries have won prizes by working together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful invited schools and nurseries from across Scotland to work together with pupils, their families, and the wider school community to choose from a range of actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and track emissions savings in the form of ‘Climate Action Points’.

They reduced energy waste, swapped to meat free meals, cut food waste, engaged in active travel, used public transport, and swapped or repaired rather than buying new.

And Troqueer's efforts mean they were second in the Early years – Primary 3 section.

Andrea Gabriel, from Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has taken part this year, and congratulations to all our winners for their excellent efforts.”
