Pump track work begins

CONSTRUCTION of Moffat’s very own pump track started on Wednesday, with aims for it to be open by gala day.

The joint venture between Dumfries and Galloway Council and Moffat and District Community Council will see a 165 metre BMX and mountain biking course created in Hope Johnstone Park.

It will be suitable for young people and beginners and also designed to help users learn good bike control, through narrow-looped paths with a series of undulating and banked curves.

The new track will take about six weeks to build. Once complete the

there will be a further three-week programme of letting the site settle, where it will remain fenced off, and will culminate with line painting of the track, with the aim for it to be completed prior to Moffat Gala Day on Saturday, July 19.
