Primary school praised by inspectors
A PRIMARY school, its staff and children have been hailed by inspectors. His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education in Scotland visited Collin Primary and graded the school’s learning and engagement; quality of teaching; effective use of assessment and planning, tracking and monitoring as ‘good’. Raising attainment and achievement were also graded as ‘good’. Their report said: “The effective headteacher, supported well by the staff team has created a warm, positive and welcoming ethos built on shared values and children’s rights. “Children experience positive and respectful relationships across the school. “Almost all children behave well and actively demonstrate the school values and respect diversity. Their positive behaviour supports a calm and purposeful learning climate.” Headteacher Laura Farrell is delighted and described it as “a truly proud moment for Team Collin”. She said: “Our children were absolute stars! They were confident, kind, and proud ambassadors for Collin Primary. “We have clear next steps to help us keep improving, and we’re excited to build on this strong foundation. “Thank you to our staff, families and, of course, our wonderful children. “Collin Primary continues to shine brightly and this report reflects the hard work and heart of our whole community.”
