Poverty fund opens
FUNDING worth £82,000 is now available to help tackle poverty across Nithsdale. And community groups are being invited to apply for a share of it for projects that help alleviate the pressures of the poverty and the cost of living crisis for local residents. Priority will be given to schemes linked to digital connectivity, food insecurity, fuel poverty, warm hubs, and advice and support services covering financial management and lifestyle support. Applications will open on May 18, with a July 13 deadline. Councillors are expected to make final decisions on awards at the area committee meeting in September. Only constituted organisations are eligible to apply, and projects must be delivered within the Nithsdale area. Applications for collaborative projects “will be welcomed and encouraged”.
