Police partnership success
POLICE in Dumfries continue to use partnership working and information sharing to track down suspects.
And it happened again last week when, after sharing information about a vehicle containing two males from Leeds with Cumbria Police, officers from Carlisle located and stopped the car in their area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The two males were wanted for a bulk theft of expensive items from a supermarket in Dumfries on Thursday. A search of the car revealed a large amount of stolen property in the boot.
“Retailers Against Crime were them able to assist us and pinpoint a number of other thefts these males were suspects for all over Scotland. The thefts go back to September 2024 and total several thousand pounds.
“Once again travelling criminals have come unstuck and have been arrested after visiting our area.
“Our Community Officers also work closely with retailers to deter and detect the organised gangs who are involved in these thefts and we will continue to do so.”
Both males will be held in custody pending their appearance at court.
