PM made aware of Lockerbie anniversary
PRIME Minister Keir Starmer says his thoughts are with the families and friends of the Lockerbie bombing victims ahead of this weekend’s 37th anniversary. The matter was raised during Prime Minister’s Questions at Westminster this week by Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell, who said: “Does the Prime Minister agree with me that, especially after all these years, those family and friends of the victims deserve both truth and justice and will the UK Government continue to do all it can to bring about that outcome?” In response, Keir Starmer said: “Thank you for raising this. No one can forget the shocking scenes at Lockerbie and I know the huge impact it had on the community where he (Mr Mundell) grew up and where people responded with such compassion and strength.” Mr Starmer added that thoughts remained with the family and friends of all the victims and they deserved to know the truth.
