A NEW pamphlet detailing the history and impact of St Cuthbert Wanderers Football Club has been publish ahead of Kirkcudbright’s book festival this weekend.

As one of the oldest clubs in the South of Scotland league, the new pamphlet entitled ‘We Are Saints’ contains memories, stories, poems and pictures of the historic club.

Edited by Julie McNeill, the leaflet was created via workshops organised by Saints in which Julie and writer John McIntosh spoke to many close to the club. With almost a century and a half of history to draw on, the pamphlet contains tales of how the club has fostered a strong community within Kirkcudbright and the wider region.

Explaining more, Julie said: “You will find poems and stories written by people associated with St Cuthbert Wanderers. A snapshot – a moment in time as this club takes stock of its past and looks, with ambition and determination, squarely in the eye of the challenges and opportunities ahead.

“The Saints hold a special place in the heart of many locals and will continue to play a key role in fostering a love of football in future generations to come.”

The official launch of the pamphlet happens of Saturday during the Kirkcudbright Book Festival.
