NEW figures have shown that NHS Dumfries and Galloway dispensed a total of 4,164,144 free prescriptions last year.
And that saved the average Scottish household nearly £450 a year in charges.
The research from the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) also revealed that, on average, households in Scotland received 44.5 prescriptions in 2024/25.
Commenting, Emma Harper MSP said: “Thanks to the SNP abolishing prescription charges in 2011, every resident in Scotland does not need to worry about being able to pay for essential medicines for themselves or their families."
