OASIS Youth Centre now has its own outdoor defibrillator, following a seven month campaign.

The group organised bake sales and an open day which was supported by Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue and Scottish Ambulance Service to promote the services in response to a cardiac arrest.

They also welcomed donations from Loreburn Hall, Emma’s Campaign and DH9, which meant they could successfully get the box up and running.

After seeing the progress being made, Ian Corsan Joinery and Keith from J.H. Johnstone and Sons volunteered their time to fit the box.

Young leader Hailey Tiffin is delighted that the group have reached their goal and said: “It was a lot of planning and fun working with other young leaders and youth workers to plan the fundraisers. We want to thank everyone who helped us achieve our goal and I am glad I had training on CPR so I know what to do if I am ever in that situation.”

Congratulating them, Cllr Tracey Little added: “It is incredible to see so many partners come together for a great cause and for the defibrillator to be so accessible for the community in a centre part of town, with Loreburn Hall, the train station and police station in such proximity. The partnership is great cause for anyone requiring the support.”
