Nursery’s delight after glowing report
THE celebration cakes are out at a Lochmaben nursery this week after inspectors officially branded them “very good” in a glowing report. Staff and families at Jaybees are over the moon after the nursery scooped a prestigious grade five from the Care Inspectorate across three major quality indicators, proving they are top of the class when it comes to childcare. The nursery received top marks for its leadership; how children play and learn; and for children being supported to achieve. In a report, inspectors revealed the service has “major strengths,” praising the “inspiring” environment where kids thrive. The nursery team was praised for creating a positive and supportive workplace culture. Staff shared that they feel encouraged to grow and lead within their roles. One team member explained: “We very much adopt a team approach to our self-evaluation as we all have different strengths that we recognise and value.” This strong teamwork helps them to continue improving and delivering the best experiences for children. Children’s play and learning experiences were also recognised as a key strength. Inspectors noted that youngsters are “motivated and engaged by a range of stimulating and high quality resources”. Parents’ feedback played an important role in the inspection, with many sharing positive experiences. One parent commented: “My child loves outdoor play and always has the opportunity to be outside,” while another highlighted how involved they feel, saying their views are “sought through the parent forum… or just general chatting to staff”. Delighted manager Jackie Bell said: “We’re so proud of this result – it really reflects the dedication and care our team shows every day. “It was wonderful to see the positive feedback from both our families and staff included in the report. “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from our community.”
