No plea in town blade case
A MAN who it is alleged walked in Dumfries town centre and tried to enter a pub whilst holding a machete has made no plea in court. Thomas Thomson, 27, of Dumfries, is accused of being in possession of the blade and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at the town’s Queensberry Street last Saturday night. There was terrifying footage on social media of a person approaching The Imperial whilst holding what looked like a weapon. During the four-second video, two people can be seen fleeing in panic from the area. Police were called to the scene where they arrested and charged Thomson. He appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday on petition where he made no plea to two charges. He was committed for further examination and granted bail. Thomson will be due back up in court within eight days of his first appearance. Highlighting the event, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.15 pm on Saturday, 4 October, 2025, we were called to a report of a disturbance on Queensberry Street, Dumfries. “A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.”
