SHAMBELLIE House has reopened for the year with a lively programme of workshops, retreats and community events planned. Following a winter pause, the house is once again welcoming artists, makers and visitors from across the region. There has been sessions in embroidery, painting techniques, printing, and textiles so far. The team at Shambellie were particularly excited to welcome author and artist Rosi Robinson, a descendant of the historic Stewart family of Shambellie. She returned to her ancestral home last month to run a batik event. And the coming months will see a wide range of more creative workshops, reflecting Shambellie’s growing reputation as a centre for craft and artistic learning. Environmental themes will be central to this year’s programme through Project Gather: Beach Clean Classes and Exhibition, a collaborative initiative linking coastal clean-ups with creative workshops and an exhibition inspired by materials collected along the shoreline.
