New name and outlook for group
PERFORMANCE Collective Stranraer is evolving, is entering a new era, with a new name and a new outlook.
The performing ensemble is re-launching under its new name Performance Collective Scotland, broadening its scope to continue nurturing and promoting rural theatre artists across Scotland.
Founded in 2017, the collective was established to support emerging theatre makers in Dumfries and Galloway and South Ayrshire, which often lack access to structured arts training.
Since then the organisation offered residential development labs, a mentoring programme, masterclasses, workshops, and touring productions.
Giving more detail about the changes to the group, artistic director Sarah Rose Graber said: "I'm thrilled to be ushering Performance Collective Scotland into a new era as we embrace our new name. The change better tells our story as we’ve expanded our ensemble to support more artists from rural backgrounds while still being based in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway.
"We’ll continue to nurture young, emerging talent, but in addition to residential labs, workshops, mentoring, and community events, we’ll be producing more performance work from our collective to share across the region and beyond.”
The official launch will take place on Sunday November 23, at The Stove Café in Dumfries to welcome new and existing members and share its exciting ideas for expanded programmes and future projects.
