Murder trial kicks off

THE trial gets underway today at Carlisle Crown Court of a man accused of the murder of Paul Taylor from Annan (pictured).

Jack Crawley, 20, from Carlisle denies that he killed Mr Taylor, then 56, in the city in October 2023.

Marcus Goodfellow, also 20 and from Carlisle, is accused of assisting an offender. He too is pleading not guilty.

Jury selection is taking place today, Tuesday, with the prosecution set to kick off proceedings tomorrow with their opening statement.

The Honourable Sir Mr Justice Goose is the trial judge and it’s expected to take just over three weeks.

Dad-of-two Mr Taylor went missing from his home in Annan on the night of October 17 2023. His blue Vauxhall Corsa was found later that week in Langwathby, however Mr Taylor’s remains were not discovered until May in woodland near Carlisle.
