Moving stories shared with all
RESIDENTS from across the region are being invited to share stories about their everyday journeys as part of a new campaign.
‘Moving Stories’ has been developed by the Stove Network along with Dumfries and Galloway Council to shine a light on journeys that connect communities throughout the region, ‘where streets become stories and how pathways become possibilities’.
Giving more detail about the campaign, Graham Rooney, from The Stove Network, said: “Moving Stories is about celebrating the everyday journeys that already connect us - the simple acts of movement that activate our communities. This campaign puts local voices at the heart of a wider movement for connection, wellbeing and sustainability.
“The interactive campaign launches with six short films created with local people across Dumfries and Galloway, sharing stories of how movement shapes their lives. You can experience the films through the Moving Stories webpage, share your own experience of the joy of a daily walk or freedom of a shared bus journey and the connections you make along a new pathway on social media by tagging @movingstories_dg on Instagram.”
The campaign coincides with a significant investment of £13.8 million into sustainable transport, which will be used for new multi-modal transport hubs, improvements to bus travel and upgrades to cycling routes.
Leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Cllr Stephen Thompson, added: “Movement is part of the way of life in Dumfries and Galloway. Our beautiful and rural region connects people through journeys big and small - for work, learning and everyday living. This campaign celebrates those everyday stories and invites everyone to explore new ways of travelling, thanks to UK Government investment through the Levelling Up Fund.”
