Moving music coming to mausoleum

MUSICIANS from across the region have created a new composition that will take centre stage at Dumfries' Northern Lights event in January. Organised by the Big Burns Supper, the Northern Lights programme is a free five-day sound and light event with installations across 14 locations within the town. Six music creators, along with composer Gary Cameron, have written and produced the seven-minute composition to bring Burns' Mausoleum to life, as part of a new animation that will be projected onto Burns Mausoleum called Burns Light. Among the composers is 21-year-old audio engineering student, Finlay Keenan. He first took part in the first ever Big Burns Supper when he was 10 years old, and is delighted to once again be part of one of the festival's events, he said:“I just love the approach Big Burns Supper is taking, getting to create something with other music creators that will reach thousands of people is really exciting. I enjoyed being able to put my own stamp on the project.” 23-year-old Adam Baglow was also part of the talented musical team. He recently moved to Dumfries from North Wales and has played drums for local metal band Gansher after studying music at Manchester. He first heard about the opportunity while working shifts at the Coach and Horses, commenting: “It is brilliant to be able to be making a project as exciting as this right here in Dumfries, these opportunities don’t come by too often, but if we are to attract more creative young people to our town, then this is the right way to go about it."
- Burns Light will be running from 5 pm – 10 pm for five nights from January 15 to 19 at Burns Mausoleum.
