Motorway crash appeal

POLICE are continuing to appeal for information following a two-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway of the M6 yesterday afternoon. It happened approximately half a mile before junction 40 for Penrith at about 1.12 pm and involved a HGV and a Seat Tarraco. A rear seat occupant of the Seat was taken to hospital via air ambulance with life threatening injuries, he remains in a critical condition. Two other occupants suffered minor injuries. However, both the driver of the Seat and the HGV were uninjured. A closure was in place until 7 pm on Tuesday night whilst officers investigated the collision.
