A STRANRAER man who went hillwalking in the Trossachs on Monday has been reported missing.
And police are appealing for the assistance of the public to help trace 64-year-old George Smith,
He drove to Tarbet on Monday to go walking, but has not returned home and concern is growing for his whereabouts.
He is described as white, around five foot eight tall and of medium build with greying, red hair. He was wearing a red and black jacket.
George is also known to travel to the Glasgow area.
Inspector Bart Simonis said: “It is completely out of character for George not to keep in regular contact with his family and he has not returned home. His car was found parked in Tarbet off the A83.
“We believe he headed for Cruach Tairbeit and Glen Loin. Extensive searches are being carried out in these areas with officers being assisted by mountain rescue teams and specialist search advisors.
“If you have seen George since Monday, 23 February, or have any information that may assist our investigation please contact Police Scotland through 101 quoting incident number 2630 of 25 February, 2026.”
