CONCERN is growing for two missing golden eagles. A four-year-old male, named Tarras, has disappeared in the hills to the north of Langholm, and police fear he may have come to harm. His mate Wren is also off the radar. Searches are underway to try and locate the birds and their tags. Detective Sergeant David Lynn said: “The data received from Tarras’ tag suggests that he has come to harm. “We cannot say for certain that Wren has also come to harm, but her disappearance is worrying." Meanwhile, Michael Clarke, the chair of Restoring Upland Nature which oversees the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project, today said: “Everyone at Restoring Upland Nature is utterly heartbroken and frustrated that Tarras appears to have come to harm, and that concerns are now also growing for his mate Wren’s welfare. To lose one eagle is bad enough, but to lose a settled pair is particularly upsetting." Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101. Above: Wren, left, and Tarras
