A NEW book by Moffat based author and businessman Michael Tough has arrived on shelves in the Moffat Bookshop.

Titled “Hard Brew in Lockerbie”, the book takes the reader through the journey of the creation of Lowland Brewery, the boutique brewery situated on Lockerbie’s Well Street. Tough discusses the challenges and rewards of launching the brewery, while also revisiting old friendships from the early 1980s formed during his school days.

The story narrative then meanders much like the nearby River Dryfe, which also inspired the name behind one of the brewery’s original beers, and takes a reflective look on broader aspects such as life, death and friendship.

The Lowland Brewery is now owned by Craig Glendinning, a familiar town face, who also runs bar and music venue “The Royal” located near the railway station.
