McDonald’s try again with new bid
A REVISED proposal for McDonald’s near Cairnryan has been submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The burger baron withdrew its previous application to build an eaterie in the grounds of the derelict Lochryan Hotel back in September after it was earmarked for rejection by planning officers.
The proposal has also divided opinions among residents with 383 letters of support and 52 objections made.
Now they’re back with an updated application for the same location. Andrew Crewther, senior acquisitions manager at McDonalds, said: “We are delighted to have resubmitted our planning application, underpinning our committent to delivering a McDonald’s restaurant in the Cairnryan area.
“We were encouraged by the overwhelming support on our previous application which highlighted the local support for the proposals.
“We are confident that our proposals will bring real benefits to the community, including a £4 million investment, the creation of 120 local jobs and further employment during construction and across our supply chain.
“Alongside delivering significant inward investment and employment, the new restaurant will improve local access to McDonald’s, reducing travel times for residents in Cairnryan and the surrounding area, and providing choice and convenience for passing traffic from the nearby ferry terminal.”
