Man seriously assaulted in Lochmaben

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an early morning assault in Lochmaben yesterday. Detectives are appealing for information about the attack, which happened in the Wallace Court area. Police were called to a property in Stanedyke Crescent in the town at about 4.35 am, where they found the injured 40-year-old. Other emergency services attended and the man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man was traced at an address nearby and arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries are ongoing and officers have appealed for information. Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened to please contact us with any information. “I would also ask drivers with dash-cams to check footage as this may assist in our enquiries.
