Man arrested for shoplifting
A MAN from Preston in Lancashire has been arrested by community police officers in Dumfries in relation to a number of theft by shopliftings locally. It follows reports last month we received reports of a number of high value thefts of health and beauty products from supermarket across Dumfries and Galloway, as well as Fife. This week the 45-year-old was observed back in a store and, thanks to the Dumfries RadioLink Scheme, officers were quickly made aware and the man was arrested in relation to the offences in this area and one in Fife. He has been held in custody pending an appearance at Dumfries Sheriff Court. A police spokesperson said: "We work closely with retailers and partners to target organised retail crime groups. Retail Crime is not a victimless crime and we will continue to target those involved."
