Lockerbie trial update for ‘living victims’
LIVING victims of the Lockerbie Disaster have been urged to complete new forms to get access to the trial of an alleged bomb marker that’s set to begin next year.
The FBI and US Department of Justice are pleading for people to fill out a further two forms to be officially registered to attend the remote sites.
Failure to do so will mean no entry to view the proceedings involving Abu Agila Masud, who denies making the bomb that blew up Pan Am Flight 103 in December 1988.
The trial is due to start in Washington in America in April 2026.
By completing the forms, the information will allow the US Government to verify victims who will then be permitted to have remote access to future proceedings, as well as gather information to refine the future victim access plan for watching evidentiary proceedings at fixed-site locations in the United States and overseas.
This is mandatory to fill out the remote access questionnaires and then to sign a certification for the court promising that they will not copy or reproduce any portion of the proceedings they have watched.
A spokesman said: “This is mandatory. In order to participate you must do both steps.
“Time is of the essence and we need you to do this now. Please do not wait. Any questions please just ask. Thank you.”
The questionnaire is available at https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/victim-services/seeking-victim-information/seeking-victim-information-concerning-pan-american-flight-103-2 or on their webpage https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/attack-pan-am-flight-103.
