Lockerbie to light up for Xmas

FESTIVE fun awaits all in Lockerbie on Saturday afternoon.

For the town will be turning on its Christmas lights and getting in the Yuletide mood.

And this year there’s some new features, following hard work by the committee to refresh the twinkling display.

The activities and entertainment start on the High Street at 2 pm and run until 6 pm.

There will be music from the RBLS pipers, displays by local singers and dancers, a lantern parade, fairground rides and stalls.

Santa will be in his grotto to meet the boys and girls and hear of their Christmas wishes and there will be a free lantern making workshop in the town hall for children too.

A raffle will be held and local shops and cafes will be open and joining in on the festivities as well.

The main switch on moment will be as darkness falls at 5 pm and will be carried out by the Bev Farish Community Person Of The Year 2024, who will be revealed on the main stage prior to that.

A spokesperson for Lockerbie Christmas Lights said: “Roll up, roll up and come along for a great afternoon that’s guaranteed to leave you feeling festive.

“We’ll have something for everyone to enjoy and we’re looking forward to revealing this year’s award winner and to sharing our new Christmas lights with you all.

“We look forward to seeing you there.”

Please, note the High Street will be closed to traffic from noon until 7 pm to allow for set up and dismantling of the event.
