A LOCHMABEN actress has landed a starring role in a new BBC legal drama.

Alyth Ross has been cast as one of the lead roles in Counsels, which is currently filming in Glasgow.

She is playing Katie, one of a group of six young lawyers whose careers are starting to take off and get serious.

The eight-parter will follow their work and love lives as they jostle for promotion and try to keep relationships alive as ambitions accelerate and adversaries emerge.

Former Lockerbie Academy pupil Alyth studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has also appeared in Last Light and Dirty Angels

Louise Thornton, head of commissioning, for BBC Scotland is looking forward to the finished show and said: “We’re delighted to see the cameras start rolling on Counsels.

“Counsels is part of the single biggest BBC investment in drama in Scotland for over a decade and we can’t wait for audiences to get to know these new exciting characters and to get caught up in their lives, loves and dramas.”

Counsels is co-created, written and executive produced by Bryan Elsley and Gillian McCormack. The producer is Brian Kaczynski, who made ‘Lockerbie: A Search for Truth’.
