Latest CV-19 figures released

FIVE new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Dumfries and Galloway in the last ten days.

Scottish Government data released this afternoon shows there have been a total of 305 cases in the region, with one new case being detected every two days for the last week.
But figures from National Records Scotland released on Wednesday confirmed there have been no further deaths from coronavirus in Dumfries and Galloway, with the region’s death toll remaining at 47 for the tenth week in a row.
One of the confirmed cases is a staff member at the Wilko store in Castle Douglas.
A company spokesman said: “One team member at our Castle Douglas store experienced mild symptoms of Covid-19 and acted quickly and responsibly to self-isolate and got tested straight away.
“The team member had been away from the store for over a week before this, therefore we are confident that with our enhanced safety measures we can ensure a safe shopping and working environment.”
Meanwhile, Cumbria Country Council has asked anyone who visited the Lloyd’s Bar in Carlisle’s Botchergate on two dates last month to put themselves forward for testing after a person who visited the pub later tested positive.
Anyone who visited the bar after 6.30 pm on Friday July 24 or after 10.30 pm on Tuesday July 28 is asked to book a precautionary test, even if they do not have symptoms.
Figures released by Cumbria County Council show that 25 new positive cases were detected in Carlisle the week ending July 31, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 734.
