Kind-hearted Joe in Christmas charity run

A BORDER firefighter ran 50 kilometres last weekend, through the storm, to buy Xmas presents for disadvantaged kids.

Joe Kirkup, who is based at Longtown Fire Station, completed a five kilometre run every five hours between Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

And his efforts, which included battling sleet and winds, have raised about £5000.

Now he is looking for families to help and put out an appeal to anyone in the Longtown and Langholm areas who is struggling this Christmas to afford presents for their children to get in touch via a message on 07725434743.

Joe said: “Don’t say your name, just tell me what your child wants and I’ll do what I can.

“It will be kept 100 per cent confidential.

“Christmas is a time for giving and no child should miss out.”

Donations to Joe’s fundraiser can still be made by searching his name on www.justgiving.com
