A BEESWING mum shared an emotional reunion with the ambulance staff who tried to save her father, after raising over £700 for the emergency service.

Khara Robertson organised and hosted a pamper day at the Lochside Tavern last month to fundraise for the Scottish Ambulance service in memory of her father Ian Robertson.

Ian passed away suddenly in 2014, when Khara was 13 and since then she has wanted to give back to the people who did everything they could to try and save Ian ‘on the worst night of our lives’, following his heart attack.

Recalling that tragic night, Khara said: “I remember my mum woke me up screaming to call an ambulance, I stood out in the middle of the road at 13-years-old waving my hands like a lunatic as the ambulance arrived.

“They did everything they could, and they managed to get a pulse back twice on the way to hospital but he was on life support. And we were asked if would he like to not be able things to for himself. But that wasn’t the kind of man my dad was, he always wanted to do everything for everybody else and he wouldn’t let you do anything for him.”

“I’ve wanted to do something to give back, and I felt like I’m finally in a position where I can, so I had the pamper day at the Lochside Tavern and we had football cards, guess the name of the bunny and we managed to raise £730 from it. I was over the moon and so was the paramedic team leader.”

Khara visited the Dumfries depot on Sunday to donate the money, there she was reunited with team leader Alan Campbell, who was one of the first paramedics on scene to help her dad.

She said: “Being able to thank him in person meant more than I can put into words. The dedication, compassion, and strength these paramedics show every single day is nothing short of incredible.

“It feels amazing to turn something so painful into something positive, and to give back to the people who gave us everything they had in that moment.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets, and supported this in any way. It truly means the world.”
