Key NHS role for Nicole
A SENIOR leader with many years of experience has been appointed as the new chief operating officer of NHS Dumfries and Galloway. Nicole Hamlet, pictured, takes on the role as part of changes to the way health and social care is led in the region. She steps into the position at a time when services are under significant pressure, with growing demand, workforce challenges and financial pressures all affecting how care is delivered. Having worked for many years within Dumfries and Galloway, she brings not only leadership experience but also a close understanding of the communities the NHS serves. Ms Hamlet said: “It means a great deal to me to take on this role at such a critical time for local services. “We know the challenges are very real - from growing demand to workforce pressures - but I also believe we have real opportunities to make improvements.” She added: “I know how committed our staff are to providing the very best care, and I want to make sure they feel supported to do their jobs. “We face some big challenges, but I believe we also have opportunities to work differently, to listen to our communities, and to strengthen the services people rely on every day.” Nicole has built her career in Dumfries and Galloway, working across a range of senior roles that have given her first-hand knowledge of both frontline services and the wider health system.
