A LANGHOLM farmer is standing again for the board of British Wool.

Jim Robertson, of The Becks, is seeking re-election in 2026, covering the Scottish Southern region.

But others are also invited to nominate themselves to be a member elected non-executive board member.

As British Wool celebrates its 75th anniversary, the organisation’s aim continues to be to maximise returns for its farmer members.

With wool experiencing its most buoyant trade for a decade, and prices in a better place, British Wool is focused on building awareness of the sustainability and value of British wool while maximising returns, at a time when there is positivity in the marketplace.

They are looking for sheep farmers, or someone with a strong interest or expertise in the wider opportunities for wool use and based in the Scottish Southern area.

A spokesperson said: "To help maximise the opportunities ahead, while continuously improving service to members, the organisation needs farmer representatives on their board who can provide leadership and insight, ensuring they continue to work to deliver long-term value for members."

It is a paid role, involving around 30 days’ work per year, attending meetings and supporting member engagement by representing British Wool in your region.

Depending on the number of applicants, elections will be held in January, and those appointed will hold office for three years, from April 2026.
