It’s a no to lifeboat week
PORTPATRICK’S Lifeboat Week will not go ahead this summer.
The annual event has been organised by the village’s RNLI Lifeboat crew for a number of years and attracts large numbers of visitors to the Rhins.
But this week the crew revealed that they will not being going ahead with the 2026 event.
In a statement they said: “The station has taken the difficult decision to focus our fundraising efforts on aligning with the majority of the other 238 lifeboat stations around the coast by supporting the RNLI’s Mayday campaign in the spring.
“As a result, we will not be hosting Lifeboat Week going forward.
However, we hope that the traditional week will continue to grow into a wider community Portpatrick Gala Week, bringing people together in a new and exciting way.
“We would like to sincerely thank all the groups and individuals who have worked so hard over the years to make Lifeboat Week such a success. Your support has meant a great deal to us.”
