A DUMFRIES family have paid tribute to their much missed father, following a massive community fundraiser.

Jordan, Craig, and Sean Peat were proud to unveil a new Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) at The Abbey Inn in Lincluden last Thursday.

The device was installed by the DH9 Foundation following a successful community fundraising effort in memory of their father, Ian Peat, who passed away in November 2023.

The family organised a charity football match in November 2025, followed by a fundraising event at The Abbey Inn, which raised £2794.45. These funds were used to purchase the defibrillator along with a further donation from the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young David Hill Memorial Fund (CRY).

Reflecting on the donation, Jordan, Craig, and Sean said: “Dad loved his football, playing from a young age and coaching the teams that Craig and Sean played for. A charity football match seemed a fitting way to remember him. Placing this defibrillator at The Abbey Inn ensures that Dad will be remembered for many years. This pub was central to our family celebrations; he was always the life and soul of any party here. This serves as a lasting legacy of his love for football and his roots in Lincluden.”

Ellen Murray of The Abbey Inn added: “The Abbey is a community pub and we are delighted to have this defibrillator on the side of our building in the heart of the community. We have registered this PAD with www.thecircuit.uk so that the ambulance service can direct people here when it is needed. Our thanks go to Ian Corsan for fitting the box that will house the defibrillator.”
