Housing need in Boreland focus of survey
HUTTON Community Initiative (HCI) has launched a housing need and demand assessment for Boreland and the surrounding area.
It follows the official closure of Hutton Primary School, which prompted the HCI board to seek the community’s views on the future of that site.
And the results of the survey revealed that 70 per cent of respondents were in favour of pursuing a community asset transfer to purchase it, with 56 per cent highlighting housing as a preferred use for the site. Acting on this strong local support, the initiative has now set up the housing needs assessment to determine if there is a genuine requirement for affordable housing within the community.
It is open to all current residents of Boreland and the wider Hutton community area, as well as those interested in moving back to the area.
The survey is being carried out by South of Scotland Community Housing, a registered charity dedicated to helping communities across the area secure affordable, community-led housing solutions.
Hutton initiative encourages everyone with an interest in the future of Boreland to participate in the survey and help shape the direction of this vital community project.
