High street bank will not close its doors
A DUMFRIES High Street bank has promised it won’t close its doors. Virgin Money has pledged to keep its Dumfries branch open for at least three years, following Nationwide’s takeover of the bank. The two organisations have pledged to keep all their bank branches open until, at least, the beginning of 2028. South of Scotland MSP Craig Hoy recently met with Virgin Money staff to discuss the take over after the Bank of Scotland announced more branch closures across the region. After the meeting, Mr Hoy said: “The branch promise is a pledge to keep all physical banks, from Virgin Money and Nationwide open until at least 2028, which is positive given the significant number of closures across Dumfriesshire.” Lauren Brown, branch manager at Virgin Money Dumfries, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Mr Hoy and explain more on Virgin Money and Nationwide’s commitment to supporting our local community, as well as our branch promise which commits to keep all of our branches open until at least 2028, including in Dumfries.”
