Have you got Lockerbie’s best garden?
KEEN gardeners in Lockerbie will be sprucing up their flowerbeds, trimming their shrubs and tidying their lawns upon hearing of the return of the town’s popular garden competition.
Lockerbie and District Community Council have announced they are bringing back the contest this summer.
And they are hoping for a bumper number of blooming good entries.
The competition is open to anyone living in the Lockerbie and district area with a front or side garden that is clearly visible from the front street, pavement, or road.
The organisers said: “It doesn’t matter how big or small your garden is, as long as it is maintained by you and not a professional gardener.”
The categories are: best front or side garden; best planters or hanging baskets; and best commercial/business garden/display. You can enter yourself or nominate others.
Winners and runners up will be selected in each class and there will be prizes and trophies up for grabs for the best entries.
To enter, pick up a form from the library or town hall or request one via email at [email protected]. There’s also an online entry link on the community council’s Facebook page.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday July 31 and judging will take place in August.
The winners will be announced in September and presentations made at the community council’s monthly meeting.
Group treasurer, and competition co-ordinator, Roger Claymore, above, said: “To make it as successful as before, we need you, the green-fingered one in your family, to submit an entry.
“The judging will take place across the Lockerbie and District Community Council Area only.
