Have a coastal adventure
RESIDENTS and visitors are being invited to explore the Rhins of Galloway coastline as the Biosphere Community of Kirkcolm prepares to host a new coastal adventure day this weekend The event will take place on Saturday and is celebrating wellbeing, nature and the area’s unique coastal environment, with a wide range of free activities for all ages planned throughout the day. The programme will include bird watching and guided beach activities, art sessions and Qi Gong on the beach. Community historians will also share stories of local shipwrecks with boat trips to view offshore seagrass meadows on offer too. Children are also included with face painting and crafts available, and finally, the Coastguard and RNLI will be present to provide safety advice. The event is organised by the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Partnership and the Solway Coast and Marine Project (SCAMP Landscape Connections), in partnership with Kirkcolm Community Trust. It marks the first major event in SCAMP’s community-led tourism programme, which aims to supports local businesses and community groups to create sustainable visitor experiences and develop new income opportunities The adventure day will run from 11 am until 3 pm.
