Happy ending after daring dog escape

RESIDENTS in Gretna have been thanked for their role in helping to track down two escaped dogs.

Foreign rescue dogs Raito and Gringo were being handed over to their new foster carers on Sunday night when they fled.

But thanks to the efforts of locals, responding to a social media appeal, the pair were recaptured later that night.

And they are now settling in at their foster home and will soon be permanently rehomed.

Prior to the pitstop at Gretna, Raito and Gringo had spent two days travelling from Gran Canaria, including a seven hour wait at the EuroTunnel.

Lee Heron, from Lost Dogs Dumfries and Galloway, offered an update on the doggy duo: “They’re enjoying running about free in a secure garden – and enjoying sausages.

“Thanks again to everyone who pulled together to help get these two safe.”
