GREYHOUNDS: No time to 'Relax' for sprint king

VETERAN Scots greyhound Relax won over the sprint trip for the second weekend in a row at Gretna's Halcrow Stadium.

There was no stopping the four-year-old dog, owned and trained by Kelvin Brown, as he powered round the track to win by a comfortable 4.25 lengths.

The South Lanarkshire – based flyer dashed hopes for Dumfries and Galloway fancy Horny Edgar, the runner-up.

Hotelier Stephen Hornby of Portpatrick enjoyed a series of victories with the runner over the sprint and middle distance last winter but was never a threat on Friday night’s slow going track.

The main feature race, the 100 metres dash final, was won by widely fancied  Gamma from well-known Scots owner-trainer Willie Hyslop.

Runners-up prize was secured by Star, entered by Brian Thexton of Barnard Castle, Teesdale.
