Characters from Scotland’s past will be dropping in to Caerlaverock Castle next week. The Living History programme includes a visit from the fletcher, pictured, who will demonstrate how arrows were crafted for war and hunting – and reveal how medieval surgery tackled arrow wounds with ingenious tools. Castle spokesperson Gillian Urquhart, Events Manager at HES, said: “We are offering visitors the opportunity to converse with a courtier, meet a medieval knight, speak to a royal King and Queen, and more. “This is the perfect way to find out more about our sites and the people who lived and worked at them.”
