Gibson: ‘Win was thoroughly deserved’
WULLIE Gibson praised his players after they came from behind to beat Forfar Athletic 3-1 at Galabank last Saturday in an SPFL League Two Clash. Speaking after the victory, the Black and Golds player/manager said: “It’s great to get three points and win at home. It’s great to win at home (in the league), it’s been a long time coming. “I think the performances of late have been really good, and we’ve been a bit unfortunate. “Today I thought the boys were excellent from start to finish. I know we went in at half time 1-0 down, but I think the whole first half was us on top and dominating. “I said to them at half time – if we could increase the intensity a little bit, move the ball a little bit sharper and get in behind then we’d score goals. “Every goal was well worked. It’s really pleasing to see Josh (Dixon) get his goal, because his performances have been really good. “Charlie (Maxwell) pops up with another really important goal with a lovely bit of movement. “And Ryan (Muir) tops it off with his first professional goal which is excellent.” Gibson added: “Not only did we score three really good goals, we won most of the first balls, if there was a second ball to be won – we won it, we were aggressive, we played on the front foot, we took the game to Forfar and we thoroughly deserved our win.” Tomorrow afternoon Athletic travel to top of the table East Kilbride. Gibson said: “We go away to East Kilbride which we know will be a really hard game. They’ve got a good squad and they’re where they are in the league on merit. “We need to go and show our battling qualities again, and then, on the other side of that, show the qualities to break them down and score against them to try and get three points.”
