‘Geez a Choon’ call for budding young musicians
ASPIRING young musicians are being invited to apply for the next two ‘Geez a Choon’ residentials.
Aimed at 15–25 year olds, the three-day residential run by Up Yer Airts will take place at Telford Manor near Beattock between November 24–27, and February 26 to March 1.
The intensive residential experience is designed to help musicians develop their craft in a supportive and professional environment. Participants live and work together for three nights, immersing themselves in music while writing and recording new material with guidance from experienced industry professionals.
Previous participants have gone on to perform at regional festivals, gaining confidence and experience on stage. Many have developed lasting networks, collaborating with peers and mentors beyond the residential weekend.
Liam Russell, creative director at Up Yer Airts, said: “Geez a Choon has been transformative for so many young artists. It’s incredible to see participants leaving the residential not just with new music, but with the confidence, skills, and connections to take the next step in their musical journey.”
There are 12 slots available across the two weekends, and Up Yer Airts is inviting applications from solo artists, bands, DJs, and beat-makers who are based in or have strong ties to Dumfries and Galloway.
Participants will also have the opportunity to perform at gigs and festivals across the region, extending the impact of the programme beyond the residential weekend.
