Footy fan hurt in after match fracas
QUEEN of the South and Partick Thistle have said an incident which occurred following a football game between the two sides on Tuesday night is being handled by police. It is understood a young Queens fan was injured in an incident with opposition fans following the game away with Partick Thistle. Queens lost the cup tie 2-0 in Glasgow. A Queen of the South club spokesperson yesterday said: “The club are disappointed with the incident that took place after our cup tie against Partick Thistle last night. “We are delighted to hear that those involved are okay and wish them a speedy recovery. “Supporters should be allowed to follow their team safely and we are pleased that the matter is now being handled by Police Scotland. “Thank you to all the Partick and Queens fans who helped in the aftermath and to Partick Thistle FC for their assistance.” A Partick Thistle spokesperson added: “Players and officials of Partick Thistle were appalled at the incident that occurred after the final whistle in last night’s game. “We thank the group of home and away fans that came to the assistance of the young visiting supporter in the aftermath, and also thank our first team medical staff who applied treatment in the club’s physio department. “We are pleased to hear that the young person involved is doing well and echo their wishes for a speedy recovery.” Police were contacted for comment.
