Fond farewell for Sharon
A LONG-SERVING member of staff at a Dumfries opticians has retired after nearly a quarter of a century. Sharon Currie began her career at Specsavers Dumfries in 2001 and, as reception manager, she has supported thousands of customers with their eye-care needs. Having lived and worked in the town all her life, she built warm, genuine relationships with customers - remembering their names, families and stories. To commemorate Sharon’s last day, volunteers from Guide Dogs visited and were delighted to help raise £124 for the charity, which is partnered with the store. Sharon said: “I’m grateful to the volunteers from Guide Dogs for visiting me on my last day at Specsavers, it was truly the perfect ending to my career, especially as we were able to make a donation thanks to our generous customers.” In retirement, Sharon is looking forward to travels in her campervan, spending time with her grandchildren and continuing to support Guide Dogs with local fundraising and fostering.
