First Shire McDonald’s plans

A FAST-FOOD chain has announced plans for a new £4 million drive-thru restaurant in Wigtownshire.

The proposed new McDonald’s branch will be located within the grounds of the now derelict Lochryan Hotel, positioned just off the A77, south of Cairnryan.

The development consists of a modern, free-standing, single-storey McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant.

If approved, the proposed restaurant is expected to generate around 120 local jobs, offering a mix of full-time and part-time positions.

The company will be hosting a drop-in consultation event on Wednesday, November 13, between 3 pm and 7 pm at Cairnryan Village Hall for local residents to learn more about the proposals.

Members of the public can drop in and ask questions to members of the project team, view plans, and provide feedback on the proposals.

Andrew Crewther, from McDonald’s said: “We are delighted to announce the plans for a drive-thru restaurant in Cairnryan. The development will create over 120 jobs and if approved, will generate significant inward investment of around £4 million to the local area.

“We look forward to showcasing our proposals to the local community at our upcoming information event. The event will play an important role in informing local residents of our plans that we hope to submit to Dumfries and Galloway Council in the near future.

“I encourage those with an interest in the proposals to join us at our information event and view the plans on our dedicated project website.”
