Fire station Christmas drive-thru was a success
A SANTA drive-thru at Dumfries Fire Station was a huge success netting over £1500 for charity. This was a free festive event that was open to all and aimed to bring joy, connection, and Christmas magic to local families. The Dumfries station was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with fire engines, lights, Christmas trees, the Grinch and of course, a visit from Santa himself. The station’s goal was to gift every child who attends a selection box, ensuring no child misses out on the magic of Christmas due to cost. A spokesman said: “We were visited by 501 cars and gave away 1065 selection boxes. “The remaining selection boxes will be given out tomorrow to the children’s ward at DGRI and other community support services. “Unlike many festive events, ours was completely free, making it accessible to all from the comfort of their own car. “This was only made possible by the generosity of many businesses with Dumfries. “We aim to make this annual event going forward. “We raised £1560 for Fire Fighters Charity and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust.”
